CHAMPIONS !!

Bay won the league today playing some outstanding football. The goals came from eight different scorers as Monkton struggled to contain the inventive and imaginative football of this talented set of boys.
Davies got the first within five minutes as he converted from close range following a splendid run along the by-line by Cooke. Davies scored again two minutes later as he slotted home neatly from a Goldsack through ball. A superb passing move involving Blaikie, Ells and Barnes enabled Allen to score the third as he shot low into the far corner from the edge of the area.

The fourth came when Ells pounced on a poor goal kick and powered a superb dipping drive into the net from 35 yards. Harris added a fifth just before half time as he side footed home after an intricate passing move involving Goldsack, Ells and Cooke.

Cooke added the sixth as he controlled a bouncing ball from a goal mouth scramble and struck high into the net from an incisive Batty pass. A brilliant run from Davies created the seventh as Tulett scored from close range. Gipson added the eighth from an Ells cross, chipping the ball neatly over the keeper.

The final goal came from a curling Barnes free-kick that the keeper saved well before Carpenter got onto the rebound to tap home. Bay used two goalkeepers, one in each half, but neither Simms nor Burgess were tested as the incredibly powerful defensive quintet of Barnes, Blaikie, Tulett, Harris and Batty intercepted everything.
This really was a brilliant display worthy of champions and credit must go to the managerial duo of Gordon Blaikie and Gary Tulett for their leadership throughout the season, a special thanks to our sponsers HAPAP for their continued support.
